Habits That Will Make You 1% Better Every Day
A lot of people believe that change needs to happen overnight, and they get impatient or give up when it doesn’t happen. But here’s the thing: change is the result of small actions that compound over time. It’s not a one-time action or something that can happen just because we suddenly decide we’re going to start working on ourselves.
It takes time, effort, and patience. The results will take a while before they become visible to us. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t happening. Just like seeds planted underground, growth is often invisible at first, until one day, it all starts to show. That’s why building habits that make you just 1% better each day is so powerful. Over time, those tiny actions create real transformation.
In this edition of my blog, I’ll be sharing simple daily actions you can take to become 1% better every day.
1. Fixing Your Sleep Schedule
A lot of us ignore our sleep because we think it’s not as important compared to other things. But in reality, the less sleep you get, the more your focus and attention will tank, the more you’ll experience low energy levels, and the harder it’ll be to stay consistent with your goals.
Fixing your sleep schedule might not seem like a big deal, but it’s one of the most foundational habits you can build. When you're well-rested, you think clearer, make better decisions, and actually feel motivated to take action.
So fix it and aim to get 7–8 hours of sleep every night. Your health should be your priority because it is the one thing you can’t replace.
2. Learn from People That Came Before You
One of the easiest ways to grow is by learning from people who’ve already been where you want to go. There are thousands of books, videos, podcasts, and articles that teach exactly what you want to learn. Use them. Don’t underestimate how much wisdom is already out there waiting for you.
Make it a daily habit to consume content that inspires and teaches you. Even just a few minutes a day can lead to big changes over time.
3. Journaling
The easiest way to learn about yourself so you can become better is by journaling. Writing things down will help you notice patterns you follow, things that hold you back, and even serve as a tool to release emotions and clear your mind.
Also, journaling creates a record of your growth, showing you where you started and how far you’ve come. It sharpens self-awareness, which is essential for breaking bad habits and building new, positive ones.
Make it a daily habit and you’ll see the change that comes in your life.
4. Time Management
We all want to do big things — achieve our goals and build ourselves up — but none of that is possible without proper time management. Managing your time effectively means prioritizing what truly matters and using your hours intentionally. Without this skill, even the best plans can fall apart, and distractions will take over.
The game-changer isn’t cramming more into your day; it’s being ruthless about what deserves your attention. Start each morning by identifying your top three priorities. Not ten, not five — three. Everything else is secondary. This simple practice transforms scattered energy into focused action.
Time blocking is another powerful tool. Assign specific tasks to specific times. This saves your energy and time because you always know what you’re supposed to do and exactly when you will do it.
Building better habits isn’t about willpower; it’s about systems and consistency. Choose one habit from this list and commit to it for the next seven days. Track your progress, celebrate small wins, and watch how one small change creates momentum for bigger transformations. The journey to becoming your best self starts with a single 1% improvement.
